More Texan drivers are insured, but premium rates still rise

More drivers in Texas are insured thanks in part to the Texas Department of Insurance’s TexasSure Vehicle Insurance Verification program. Despite this car insurance, premium rates at most of Texas’ top insurers continue to rise. TexasSure is an electronic database that matches vehicles registered in Texas with their insurance policy. All counties participate in the program. And the insurance department contended that more than 99 percent of all reported auto insurance policies are matched to the Texan vehicle they are associated with. New study finds elderly drivers are safer than previously recorded

Senior drivers are safer than previously thought, according to a recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The report, issued in IIHS’s Status Report, also found that senior drivers are holding onto their licenses longer. Whether this will affect their car insurance premiums remains to be seen. The institute said the trend bucked its own predictions made as recently as nine years ago, when it expressed concern about the risk of more seniors driving on the road. Farmers Insurance Group lowers California car insurance rates

Now might be a good time to look at getting car insurance coverage through Farmers Insurance Exchange in California. On July 28, the insurer announced that it would drop most of its car insurance rates in California by an average of 14.5 percent. And if you’re an existing policyholder, you will receive a one-time 10 percent rebate, which will likely amount to about $50 per policyholder.
