Washington regulator fines auto insurance providers
|
Washington Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidle announced that he would be fining Washington auto insurance providers over $1 million for unapproved rates, improper advertising, and failing to offer health care coverage to children. “Insurance can be complicated, and consumers deserve protection,” Kreidler said in a statement. Kreidler has been after excessive rate increases on auto and homeowner policies, and since 2000 has saved Washingtonians more than $300 million, according to a recent press release. The money collected from the fines will be deposited into the state’s general fund. So far, the list of companies being fined has not been released.
