Founder Leland persuaded Ford and several key partners that left with him to continue the automobile business using his proven single-cylinder engine. Henry Ford's departure meant the Ford Company required a new name, and on 22 August 1902 it reformed as the Cadillac Automobile Company.
In 2010, Cadillac is the fastest growing luxury brand, with estimated YTD sales to top 140,000, up from 38 percent in 2009. Like most other luxury brands, the high price of a Cadillac means it is often expensive to insure.
