Car Insurance For A Kia

With a name that means, “to arise to the world from Asia,” Kia Motors is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and is South Korea’s second largest automobile maker. Owned partly by Hyundai Motors Group, Kia is South Korea’s oldest auto manufacturer. Though the company was founded in 1944, Kia Motors didn’t produce cars until 1974.

Kia began selling cars in the U.S. in 1994 after incorporating in the country in 1992. The Kia Sephia, and later the Kia Sportage, were the first Kia automobiles to be sold in the U.S. and were marketed as economical vehicles. Today, Kia manufactures over 1.5 million vehicles a year in 13 manufacturing and assembly operations in eight countries, which are then sold and serviced through a network of distributors and dealers covering 172 countries. With over 42,000 employees worldwide and annual revenues of over US$14.6 billion, Kia has proven a major player in the international automobile manufacturing industry.

With an estimated 340,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2010, Kia is the 8th bestselling vehicle in the United States and outsells several Chrysler and Mazda models. Kia is affordable to insure as well; the vehicles are less expensive to purchase and repair and aren’t high on vehicle theft lists. In fact, the Kia Optima makes the list of the least expensive cars to insure in the U.S.
