Car Insurance For A Lexus

The Lexus is one of the most coveted brands of vehicle on the market today. Known for quality, luxury and a smooth ride, Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota Motor Corporation and is Japan’s largest selling brand of premium vehicles. Introduced to the U.S. market in 1989, Lexus is sold globally and can be found on the roads in over 70 countries. Lexus is headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan and has operational centers in Brussels, Belgium and Torrance, Calif.

Lexus was born from a secret meeting called by Toyota CEO Eiji Toyoda in 1983 where he asked company executives the question, “Can we create a luxury vehicle to challenge the world’s best?” This meeting ended in the top-secret project called F1, or Flagship + No. 1 vehicle, which ultimately resulted in the design and creation of the Lexus LS 400, the brand’s flagship sedan. The LS 400 proved to provide Toyota with a foothold in the luxury vehicle marketplace and cement its status in the industry.

Though several rumors surround the name Lexus, such as it stands for “luxury exports to the U.S.” or that Lexus is a mingling of the words “luxury” and “elegance,” the marketing firm that created the brand image of Lexus claims there is no story behind the name, and that it simply creates the image of a luxurious and technologically advanced make of vehicle.

In 2010, Lexus was estimated to sell nearly 220,000 vehicles in the U.S. The high price, performance, and luxury status of the Lexus makes it more expensive to insure, although safety ratings are high. The Lexus SC, Lexus GS and Lexus IS all made the list of the Top 20 most expensive vehicles on insure in the U.S.
